A large number of police officers at Bordesley St in Phillipstown, Christchurch.
Residents of a Christchurch street were instructed to remain in their homes while police responded to an incident in the suburb of Christchurch in Phillipstown.
Laces were on site around Newcastle St after police were called to the area about 3.15pm on Tuesday.
At 4:30 p.m., about 10 police cars and 20 police officers were on the corner of Harrow St and Bordesley St, near Newcastle St.

Police urged the public to avoid the area, however, a police spokesman declined to comment on the nature of the incident.
Several officers and a police dog were about to enter a property in Newcastle St for about five hours. A drone was seen flying near the property.
St. John's spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance was on standby in the area at the request of the police.
The fire engines were also on site. Fire and Emergency New Zealand declined to comment.
