The search for the worst job in the world is over.
It's this: diving into the ponds of the Queenstown Lakes District Council sewage treatment plant near Wanaka Airport.
A board spokesman said the diver was part of a team of four outside contractors "brought to town specifically for work". The work consisted of being lowered to the sewage in a cage for urgent repairs to the plant's "aeration diffuser grille" in one of two wastewater tanks.
After completing the repairs, the diver sank back into the second lake just to make sure it was in good condition. The work was planned by the waste services company Veolia and a dive operator with & # 39; & # 39; extensive experience & # 39; & # 39; diving in such environments.
