Yamaha introduced a track-focused YZF-R3 version called R3 GYTR in the ongoing EICMA 2018 around the world.

The bike was built as part of the manufacturer's GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) program. While the front end is similar to the YZF-R3 standard, save the false headlamps, the rear end is completely revised. You get a racing seat with a rubber cap on the rear seat hood. The position of the seat is also more aggressive thanks to the rear feet and lower handlebars.

In addition to cosmetics, the R3 GYTR uses high-quality braking and suspension hardware to make it more capable on the rails. It receives inverted forks and a monoshock originated from Ohlins. Meanwhile, the stopping power was provided by Brembo. Yamaha also equipped the bike with a GYTR engine kit that complies with the rules of the 2019 SSP 300 championship in which it would compete. There is also a high-performance Febur radiator and a titanium exhaust from Akrapovic.

The R3 GYTR sports the distinctive blue color of Yamaha with a white strip on the fairing. Unfortunately, the bike or GYTR program will probably not be introduced in India at any time in the near future.
