Kevin Lipinski disappeared on Saturday night and was found on Sunday.

An elderly man with Alzheimer's was found safe and well after a night out.

Kevin Lipinski left an address for Harbor View Road in Omokoroa, north of Tauranga, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Lipinski has Alzheimer's and does not respond, the Bay of Plenty Police said in a statement.

His family said he was found Sunday at 11am.

He was bruised, had cuts, was very cold and hungry, but he is expected to recover fully.

In a statement, his family thanked everyone who helped in the search.

"We are impressed with the support, love and care provided by the police, search and rescue, firefighters, Omokoroa Boat Club, Omokoroa community, friends and members of the public. You are simply incredible and makes life in our beautiful Aotearoa best place on earth ".
