Destiny 2's new offensive seasonal mode is repetitive but really rewarding

Since yesterday, we first saw the kind of activity that Bungie considers "seasonal" now, something that will exist for that three-month period just before it disappears. That would be Vex's offensive activity, launched at the same time as the attack, which surprised me when I thought it would come later. But after a brief (although a bit confusing), which leads us to hunt down the Lord of the Gate at public new moon events, you can get in on the activity. This is my review of this activity, at least for now.

It's fun. So far, I like Vex Offensive better than Nightmare Hunts. It's an activity of six men who just dumps Vex ads on you, making the chaos component really meaningful. It has real mechanics to some extent, unlike Nightmare Hunts, such as knocking down oracles or knocking down the final bosses' shield with artifacts.

There are those new "barrier" and "overload" enemies circling that require special mods to deal them the most damage, but playing a 750 activity on the 920 means they're not exactly difficult no matter what you're wearing (I expect this to change with greater difficulty).

After five or more executions, it's easy to see how Offensive Vex has the potential to repeat itself even more than most other activities of this nature. I mean, this is an arena with an enemy race and a boss. Compare this to the four different Black Armory Forges or six different sections of the Zoo. It looks more like The Reckoning in terms of scale, except that you know, it's not terrible. It's a lot of fun, of course the seasonal activities going forward will definitely not be as big as we saw last year.

But even though it's pretty basic, it's fun and, most importantly, it's rewarding.

Bungie seems to have learned a valuable lesson here about looting generosity. In addition to being the source of at least two powerful drops per week, a single run on the Offensive Vex in about 15 minutes offers at least three drops of offensive Vex armor or one of four weapons, and you can "forge" the Weapons you choose with a new mini mission for each weapon. So theoretically you can finish a race with 5-6 offensive Vex drops of some kind. I've played it maybe six times so far, but I already have many copies of the new scout rifle. Hunting for scrolls (and all of these weapons seem to have great releases) seems to be easy, easier than new moon weapon missions at least.

As for the idea that the Vex Offensive will disappear at the end of this season? I'm not crazy about it yet. I realize that this is linked to a specific development of the story that will be "resolved" at the end of this season, but it still seems strange to me to remove content. However, given that this activity It's very limited in scope, and Bungie will ship its equipment later at some point, I suppose could be worse. It will not be like erasing Menagerie, for example in terms of scale. And I think I'll be tired of it until December or whenever the new season starts and ready to do the next thing.

For now, this seems like a nice little grinding loop between your items and rewards and quick and relatively easy six-way runs. player matchmaking. In short, a solid addition to the game, even if it's here for a limited time. I can say that I'm going to shred a lot, which was exactly the goal, I suppose.
