Chinese smartphone maker Huawei made a presentation for the announcement of its smartphone New 5. The teaser shows that this phone has the first midrange-soc made in the 7nm process of TSMC.
According to ITHome, this is a soc with two Cortex A76 cores and six Cortex A55 cores, aided by a Mali G52 gpu. Only Nova 5 would get this soc; the New 5 Pro that would also come, would have a Kirin 980.
Huawei would be the first to announce a phone with a midrange-soc that was done in a 7nm process. So far, the mobile associations of TSMC's 7nm production line are only targeted at high-end phones such as the Apple A12 Bionic on the iPhone XS, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 for many Android phones and Huawei's Kirwe 980 itself P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and some other models.
Huawei would like to introduce the New 5 phones on Friday. The New series was also released in the Netherlands years ago, but this has not happened for some time. In addition, due to the commercial ban on US companies with Huawei, it is unclear whether Huawei will be able to launch new models with Google Apps in Europe in the near future or whether it will have to wait until it has its own smartphone operating system ready.
