Virgil van Dijk was named PFA Players' top player of the year, according to leaked photos. The Orange captain received the majority of votes from his fellow professional football players.
Van Dijk's election does not come out of nowhere. The Daily Mail had already reported late on Wednesday that Liverpool's central defender had settled the dispute with Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling in his favor. Van Dijk's team-mate Sadio Mané, Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero-Bernardo Silva and Chelsea star Eden Hazard were the others named.
The winner of the election will be officially announced by the end of Sunday night, but Twitter There are already photos showing Van Dijk with the accompanying award. His former club, FC Groningen, also took the opportunity to congratulate the central defender, under contract in the High North, between 2010 and 2013, with his election.
