Bennett wins Van Aert in sprint in third stage Dauphiné criterion

[ad_1]

Sam Bennett won the third stage of the Dauphiné Criterion. A mass sprint was expected and it was. In the sprint, the BORA-hansgrohe rider was the fastest with force majeure.

Two refugees were gone from the start: Natnael Berhane and Quentin Pacher were the day's flight. The pair got a maximum advantage of almost four minutes, but was kept under control by the sprint teams, who had their first real chance with this Dauphiné. The flight was more than 12 kilometers from the finish line.

After that, the speed trains went crazy, along with the classification trains and no team took the dominant initiative. In the last three kilometers, the sprinters with Groupama-FDJ, Arkea-Samsic, Katusha and Deceuninck-Quick-Step were more emphatically ahead.

Jumbo-Visma followed the last kilometer, but after that there was no longer a train long except Deceuninck-Quick-Step. He took the lead at 750 meters, but collapsed and was taken over by BORA-hansgrohe, which Bennett delivered perfectly. The Irishman was the first to win the sprint with great ease for a strong Wout van Aert. (Photo: Eurosport Screenshot)
