Six major author films, with premieres of high level, will be exhibited at the gala nights of the festival. At the opening of the 17th edition, the festival offers "In the Gate of Eternity", a remarkable "cinebiography" dedicated to the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh. Also in the program: previews of new films by respected filmmakers such as Valeria Golino (Italy), Alfonso Cuarón (Mexico), Peter Farrelly (United States), Abu Bakr Shawky (Egypt) and Nadine Labaki (Lebanon).
The section "Special Sessions" will present a wide range of films from different horizons (Norway, Nigeria, Colombia, Kenya, …). In all, 6 movies will be shown as part of this section.
"The 11th Continent" is the name chosen for a new section of the festival. It allows the public to discover 14 fictions and documentaries with unique and innovative writings from daring filmmakers from Thailand, Lebanon, Croatia, etc …
This edition of the festival also places Moroccan cinema in the spotlight with a dedicated section. The "Panorama of Moroccan Cinema" will present a selection of 7 recent Moroccan films with the ambition of presenting different facets of Moroccan cinema to international professionals and the media present at the festival.
