The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) has just signed three partnership agreements with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and also with the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR) in the field of energy efficiency.
The three partnership agreements aim to provide technical support for integrating energy efficiency measures and achieving energy savings in buildings and promoting sustainable mobility, AMEE said in a press release received on Wednesday.
The signatories are embarking on a true policy of energy efficiency, both technological and behavioral, and are part of initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint, notes the same source.
For this purpose and within the scope of the State of Exemplarity, two partnership agreements were signed between Othmane El Ferdaous, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport and Saïd Mouline, Director-General AMEE: one on the Secretariat for Youth and Sports and the other concerning the Secretariat of Culture. Also in this context, an agreement was signed between Noureddine Bensouda, Treasurer General of the Kingdom and Mr. Mouline.
The said agreements are essentially focused on actions that allow partners to support energy diagnostics in buildings but also in the car fleet, the statement said, stating that technical assistance for the implementation of their recommendations, the diagnosis will then be carried out. Through these partnerships, AMEE will also provide training and awareness sessions for executives interested in the area of energy efficiency, namely in the sectors of sustainable construction and ecological management.
The purpose of these conventions is to develop the basis for a partnership and cooperation between the signatories, with a view to achieving the objectives of the energy strategy, as well as the exemplary character of the State and the development of projects. and energy efficiency and renewable energy programs in sectors with higher energy intensity, including construction and transportation.
Cited in the press release, Mr. Mouline indicated that “the State must set an example and implement energy efficiency measures in its own buildings and services. The operationalization of energy efficiency is today. privileged instrument of good governance and fundamental for the reduction of the energy bill, but also of the emissions of greenhouse gases. This type of initiative aims to establish the foundations and favorable conditions to guarantee the transition to a green and inclusive economy “.
“This agreement materializes AMEE’s commitment to the implementation of energy efficiency solutions in public establishments, in accordance with national priorities that aim to make the State’s example an implementation lever. of the Kingdom’s energy strategy, ”he added.
The statement also states that the priorities of the State’s exemplary plan for 2021 concern, among other aspects, the incentive and use of renewable energy and rational management technologies or energy efficiency, and this through the reduction of energy consumption per kilowatt -hour of less than 10% in 2020, and a reduction of 20% in 2021. This plan also proposes to increase by 30% the participation of ecological cars (hybrid or electric) in the state fleet, reducing fuel consumption by approximately 10 % in 2020 and less than 15% in 2021.
