KUALA LUMPUR: The permanent water supply system for Kolam Lipat Kajang resumed full operation after installation and diversion work on new 1400 mm pipes was completed yesterday.
Abdul Raof Ahmad, chief of Customer Relations and Management Communication Department of Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, said the installation work was carried out after the incident in which three mains exploded near the Banting-Taiping West Coast Expressway (WCE) .
"The new 1400 mm tubes are a permanent solution for customers who are receiving water supply from Kolam Lipat Kajang.
"The activation of these new pipes can increase the capacity of treated water supply to the lagoon and provides for a complete restoration of all affected areas," he said in a statement.
Abdul Raof said that at 6 pm yesterday, supply rebuilding reached 99 percent and only a number of locations and facilities in Bandar Putera 2 and Taman Sentosa were still affected.
The explosion of the three main pipes in early May disrupted water supply to nearly 800,000 consumers in 65 areas in Klang. – Bernama
