SINGAPORE – The guilty have apologized, and the other parties want to continue, but some are still feeling the effects of the betrayal scandal Andy Hui-Jacqueline Wong.
TVB Hong Kong has confirmed it will remake parts of Forensic Heroes IV police drama to remove scenes with actress Wong.
The TV series is one of the biggest productions of the station to mark its 52nd anniversary this year and should be released in Hong Kong and mainland China in November.
As Wong is one of the leaders of the program, about a third would have to be rehabilitated after filming ended in March. According to the report, the show could not be approved by the Chinese authorities for presenting an actress caught in a cheating scandal.
The 30-year-old actress and singer Hui, who is married to Sammi Cheng, star of Cantopop, was spotted kissing the back of a taxi in a video posted by the Apple Daily on April 16. Wong, who is the girlfriend of actor Kenneth TVB Ma, reportedly went to the United States to avoid the harsh look of public scrutiny in Hong Kong.
The Ming Pao Daily News quoted Forensic Heroes IV producer Mui Siu Ching as saying that restoring parts of the show would lead to losses of $ 10 million but added that the move is fully supported by TVB.
Ms Mui said the reshoot would begin in June and would involve at least 50 scenes. She said her team is currently preparing for the reshoot, changing the script and negotiating with the actors involved.
She said that the remake involves rebuilding the set and even looking for new locations, such as a café presented in the original footage, since then deactivated.
The crew also have to apply for the closing of highways in Taiwan for the remake and find a suitable actor to replace Wong.
There have been earlier reports that lead actor Raymond Wong was furious over having to redo parts of the show, but Mui said, "Raymond is the first to express full support, and he and other actors have no complaints about reshoot."
Lead actress Selena Lee, who left TVB in April after her contract ended, agreed to return to the remake. Other actors like Sharon Luk said she was happy to work again with the other actors on the show.
TVB has also recorded several TV shows involving Jacqueline Wong, including The Offliners, The Maid Alliance and Finding Her Voice.
