3 required by grafting above the SSM project of RM30 million

PUTRAJAYA: Three people, including a senior officer of a commission, were held for five days from today to facilitate investigations into alleged corruption involving a RM30 million project involving the Malaysian Business Commission (SSM).

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) obtained injunction order from Magistrate Ahmad Asyraf Mohammad Kamal against the senior official and the other two, who were directors of IT companies in Kuala Lumpur.

The men, aged between 44 and 56, were detained in their offices and homes in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

According to MACC sources, the senior executive was accused of prompting the two IT companies to gain approval to offer certified software services without following the regulations stipulated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

Investigations are under way under Section 17 (a) of the 2009 MACC Act.
