The first seven-seater Mercedes-Benz SUV was launched in 2006. – It was a GL model and in 2015 updated and changed its name to GLS. The GLS, launched this year, is a brand new generation model, the most luxurious of all seven SUVs produced by Mercedes-Benz.

The length of the GLS is 5 207 mm (77 mm longer than the precursor) and the width is 1 956 mm (22 mm wider). The wheelbase became 60 mm longer – up to 3 135 mm. These changes allowed designers to create a harmoniously balanced exterior and provide ample space for each passenger in the interior – the second row of seats has an occupied area of ​​87 mm and the third seats comfortably up to 194 cm tall.

Exceptional space for all

All standard equipment seats are electrically adjustable, even with the Easy-Entry function, which facilitates entry into the third row: a single button pushes the second row to the maximum forward position and the backrest is folded back.

Mercedes-Benz offers the possibility to install only two luxurious seats with armrests in the second row. Then there is a gap between them, facilitating access to the third line. This configuration is very convenient when children's chairs are installed on the second row.

GLS developers have tried to make every passenger in this car feel comfortable, regardless of seat position. It is equipped with a five zone climate control system, one of which is dedicated exclusively to the third line. It also has USB sockets and cup holders.

The standard GLS luggage compartment is not small when all seats are raised, but with the push of a button, the second and third row seats can be folded and the luggage compartment can be increased to 2,400 liters.

Sufficient power in any situation

Mercedes-Benz GLS will be the first in Europe in 2019. In the fall, they will be equipped with a gasoline engine and two diesel engines. All models will have 4 four-wheel drive MATIC and 9-degree automatic gearbox. The Mercedes-Benz GLS 350 d 4MATIC diesel reaches 210 kW (286 hp) and 600 Nm and the GLS 400 d 4MATIC is 243 kW (330 hp) and 700 Nm. The average diesel consumption of both cars is 7.9 to 7.6 l / 100 km with CO2 emissions from 208 to 200 g / km (GLS 400 d 4MATIC – 208 to 201 g / km).

Both models are equipped with engines that meet the highest ecological standards Euro 6d.

S-Class Technologies

It is an S-Class model, which incorporates the most advanced technologies such as the Mercedes-Benz user experience (MBUX) and displays information on two 12.3-inch screens. The system recognizes which driver or passenger hand is approaching the touch screen and displays the specific information most relevant to that person.

The SUV is equipped with Remote Atomic Assistance, Stop-and-Go Atomic Assistance and other systems that provide safe autonomous driving up to 60 km / h. speed warnings, motorway alerts, speed limits for traffic signals.

The Airmatic Air Suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus is installed on all GLS models, while the optional E-Active Body Control raises the driving comfort to the highest possible level. This is the only system on the market that adjusts the shock force of each wheel in real time in real time.

The GLS model also improves the road condition. The road surface sweeping system sweeps the surface of the road and prepares the damper so that the occupants of the vehicle feel minimally jagged.
