Ask "our town" – finally by the sea!

Today, November 7, 7pm Klaipėda Drama Theater will present the joint performance of the "Klaipėda Youth Theater" and the National Kaunas Drama Theater "Our Town". Thornton Wilder's spectators, led by Darius Rabasauskas, will have the opportunity not only to see theatrical and cinematographic actors known to our country, but also a brief stop in the infinite flow of escape and alienation, to seek meaning and beauty in small daily routines .

In 1982, "Our Town" was made for the first time by the Lithuanian director Gytis Padegimas. This performance has been impressive and has been shown for almost 19 years. Asked if he is not afraid that the new version of performance is likely to be compared to the first, Mr Rabasashko says this should be the case. Okay, this is going to do it. Maybe some things are similar to the first presentation and may not be the same. But this is always the case with very strong material, which is worth working on and worth thinking about. After all, the performance, in my opinion, is an inspiration to the imagination of the viewer. It is born and ends in the mind of an observer, "says the director.

The play takes place in the 20th century. at the beginning of the year. It reveals the simple life of people, but permeates the perception of the same things that today: birth, childhood, maturity, marriage and feelings of death. For the question why, after so many years, people need to remember all this again. The role of the "Director" in the performance of the performance, Valentinas Masalskis, is generally and essentially responsible – we need to remember not death, but life, our being. "As the author of the play says, you have to love life to have it and you must have a life to love it. Th Wilder wants to remind us that life consists of very simple and everyday things, and they are sacred, worthy of But I see a miracle, for example, in the spring, when a green leaf of a tree is released. I see a miracle when the same tree leaves the leaves when the grass stops. and we do not see them, we just get up and run in that life, that's exactly what this play is about. "

It seems to me that in our time this piece is very relevant and important. She is an opportunity to stop. To really stop, sit in the theater and not only stay in this "other world", but at the same time, you will end up in your own home. I think in our life there is a lot of "surface", disillusionment, as if it were uncertainty, "facade". And this "facade" is often presented as a core value. We have a lot of irony, which seems to be some kind of supremacy over others. But being honest is much harder than being ironic. And, in my perception, that piece is exactly about that and it speaks. Both artistically and internally, "D. Rabašauskas shared his thoughts.
