Lutein and gyazan have different protective effects against colon cancer, depending on the genotype of the Dicer gene that allows DNA synthesis to be successful. The results were published in the March issue of the International Journal of Scientific Research.

Lutein and gizantin are pigmented substances with a sulfated function. Spinach, lettuce broccoli and many other dark green vegetables and egg yolks. These ingredients are known to help prevent macular degeneration and cataracts, which are mainly caused by aging. However, the maximum daily intake of these substances is 20 mg. If you overeat, the risk of lung cancer may increase.

The researchers compared 700 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer at the National Cancer Center and 1400 diagnosed with cancer at the Cancer Prevention Center. His consent was used to analyze DNA samples, daily habits, food intake and the relationship between the intake of lutein and giazantine and colon cancer.

As a result, people who consume more than 4.35 mg / day of lutein and / or gyazan were 75% less likely to develop colorectal cancer than those who consumed less than 1.95 mg / day. To consume 4.35 mg of lutein and giacantin, you need 36 grams of spinach per day. Medium-sized herb dish is about half of a dish. If you only eat with lettuce, 250g per day, if you only eat broccoli, eat about 310g. It is enough to eat green vegetables at every meal.

However, it was not included in this study to consume lutein and giazantine through nutritional supplements. Lutein and giazantine can be harmful to your health if you overeat and, since the Korean diet contains many green and yellow vegetables, it can be supplemented with food only.

The researchers analyzed the effects of lutein and giazantine on different genotypes. The gene selected for this purpose is a Dicer gene that acts as a scissors to facilitate DNA synthesis. A pair of G genes and two genes are made up of a couple of people with the G gene, they often eat lots of food with lutein and gyannan, the risk of colon cancer is 68 percent lower than people with the A gene. If people with the G gene eat lutein and giazantine as food, it means that the prevention effect of colon cancer is greater.

Among colorectal cancer, rectal cancer was the most affected. When people with the G gene ingested lutein and giazantine as food, their risk of rectal cancer was 76% lower than that with gene A.

Professor Kim said, "Recently, personalized nutrition has emerged as an important way to cure diseases." We confirm that the effects of ingested nutrients vary depending on the genetic characteristics. "This study shows that lutein and giazantine, which are known to be beneficial for eye health, have been shown to be effective against colorectal cancer and have a greater effect on individual genetic traits," he said.
