The results recently published in the Lancet medical journal of HIV show that a pill made by the American research institute Gilead would be able to impede the progress of AIDS. An article on the US site Bloomberg explains that, based on the results of the study, the pill test would have led to a drastic reduction in infections worldwide.
"The rate at which cases of new infections between gays and bisexuals fell is absolute supremacy," the researchers said. "These are the lowest numbers since we started monitoring HIV cases in 1985."
Taking into account progress in the fight against AIDS over the past 15 years, member countries of the United Nations have committed themselves to ending the epidemic by 2030. The number of infected people in the world has dropped from 3 million in the 1990s to 1.8 . million in 2017.
