A 6-year-old boy living in Maniago (province of Pordenone) died this morning due to a widespread infection after a few days of high fever. Given the symptoms and septicemia, doctors do not rule out that it could have been meningitis. Diagnostic studies are underway before deciding on possible prophylaxis for family members and peers in the kindergarten. The child was taken to the Maniago Emergency Room yesterday. Immediate transfer to the Pediatric Hospital of Pordenone. Given the already compromised clinical picture, he was urgently transferred to intensive care to allow the organization of the helicopter transfer to the Burlo Garofolo children's hospital in Trieste.
