The secret of beauty is contained in DNA and can be decrypted. A group of American University of Wisconsin-Madison identified some genes related to the degree of attraction aroused by a face. According to one study, the genetic code responsible for the good appearance of a face is "Sex-specific" and assumes different roles in male and female subjects. The scientists analyzed the genome of 4,383 people.
The research, published in the journal Plos Geneticsexamined white individuals of European origin. The photos of the participants' faces were shown to a group of volunteers who had to evaluate the attraction level of each. The genetic data of the sample were compared with the general score of beauty scored by each one.
In this way, different genetic sequences related to the beauty of the masculine and feminine "sex-specific" face, that is, with different functions in both sexes. As in most complex pathologies that have predisposing genetic factors, the weight of each individual gene is contained by itself (in short, there is no "master" gene of beauty).
Only if taken together, the "beauty genes" play a significant role in determining the level of attraction of a face. The next step will be repeat the experiment in a larger sample of individuals also of different origins, and therefore not only Europeans with white skin.
