Few things on the Internet will quickly attract a large corporation trying to appropriate the millennial culture. But when that corporation also manages to insult its non-rich customers with a hypocritical and serious attempt at humor, it's best to believe that all bets are wrong.
That's exactly what Chase Bank did on Monday by tweeting in a popular meme format about clients with low account balances. Yahoo Finance's managing editor Colin Campbell was able to capture the message before it was deleted less than 30 minutes later.
And let's not forget that less than three weeks ago, Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) Destroyed Dimon when he failed to explain how one of his employees – a bank accountant and a single mom earning only $ 2,425 a month of California – could reasonably handle a $ 567 shortfall in its basic monthly budget. I'm sure she could not invent lattes!
Unsurprisingly, hypocrisy and condescension were not well received, and Twitter users allowed Chase to have it. Here are some of the best answers to the deaf tweet, including that of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
