Netflix has revealed display values for The Umbrella Academy – and it is safe to say that the series was a great success.

The show is adapted from the comic books of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, with the same name. According to the streaming service, it has been viewed by more than 45 million families.

Netflix counts a "preview" if a user watched at least 70% of an episode in a series or 70% of a movie.

The release numbers come only a few weeks after the series received a second renewal of the season on Netflix, with 10 more episodes on the way.

Many of the stars of the first season were confirmed to return, including Ellen Page (Vanya), Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castaneda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Aidan Gallagher and Justin Min (Ben).

Steve Blackman will also be returning to the series as showrunner. In February, he suggested that fans could expect The Umbrella Academy to run for four or five stations.

"I know Gerard has eight volumes on his mind," he said, "so if it translates into eight seasons, I do not know.

"We combined certain seasons, and pieces. It would be great to have four or five years of this show, that would be wonderful."

The Umbrella Academy the first season is now available on Netflix.
