Islamic Jihad, one of the terrorist organizations responsible for the latest wave of attacks on Israel, has admitted that the baby who was killed in Gaza during the last escalation has died as a result of a wrong rocket, TPS said on Monday.

"A leak of the heroes of [Islamic Jihad’s] Sarayat al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigades) on the circumstances of the death of the baby Saba Abu Arar indicates that a resistance rocket exploded inside the family home due to a technical failure, and exploded prematurely, "a report from Hamas al-Risala News said.

The report was posted to a Hamas-related Telegram account on Sunday afternoon and was removed shortly after its publication.

"There is a claim that the technical fault was caused by low-grade explosives in the rocket," he added. "There is no doubt that the baby's death has nothing to do with the enemy [Israel’s] airplanes ".

The 14-month-old and a woman who was initially identified as her pregnant mother died last Saturday night. Contradictory sources say that the woman who was killed with Saba was a different relative.

The Hamas-led Health Ministry in Gaza immediately blamed Israel for this, although the Israel Defense Forces categorically denied the request.

According to TPS, representatives of Islamic Jihad gathered with the victims' family on Sunday morning to offer compensation and qualify the baby as a "martyr" in exchange for their silence on the circumstances of his death.
