An image of Adolf Hitler was found on Sunday near the tomb of Rabbi Nachman in the city of Uman in Ukraine. Local police arrested a suspect, a place that was taken for questioning. Under Ukrainian law, the sentence for this crime can be up to five years in prison. Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Joel Lion thanked local authorities and police for their work.

The incident, which occurred on the eve of Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles), was condemned throughout the country. Ihor Shevchenko, head of Cherkasy County, wrote on his Facebook page: "Anti-Semitism is unacceptable in Ukrainian democracy. I condemn anti-Semitism and its various forms. Embarrassing graffiti has been sprayed and photographed by the Israeli ambassador, I hope that the authorities punish those responsible for respecting everyone's right to their own life, regardless of their nationality or religion, anti-Semitism must be extinguished. "

The head of Uman County, where the graffiti was sprayed, wrote on his Facebook page: "Barking graffiti from Nazi symbols is a shameful crime and an insult to the memory of millions of victims. Currently, Uman is a multinational city that supports the Respect and Tolerance between Religions and Ethnic Borders: The community as a whole and I personally condemn incitement to ethnic, racial and religious hatred, as well as to any action aimed at humiliating the citizens of Ukraine as well as foreign civilians. We will continue to fight discrimination and I hope that such an incident will not happen again. "
