Tourists were horrified after a group of "unruly" passengers wreaked havoc on a flight from Dublin to Malta yesterday.
The problem supposedly began even before Ryanair's FR7242 flight took off yesterday with travelers refusing to take their seats and playing loud music on the back of the plane, delaying takeoff for 45 minutes.
An eyewitness told Dublin Live that the group's misbehavior continued during the flight.
He said: "The second we were in the air all [of the troublemakers] was back on their feet again and there were 45 minute rows to the bathroom and then they could not even get the catering cart down the hall.
"They ended up letting people buy food and drink from the top of the plane."
Witnesses said the group continued to cause problems for their fellow travelers.
One said: "There was a particular perpetrator who continued to have problems and then at the end of the flight he climbed near the top of the plane to use the bathroom and was causing problems with the passengers and cabin crew again.
"He did not calm down and he was getting angry.
"A man I believe was a garda of leisure took him down carefully."
The man was held firmly on the ground for the last 40 minutes of the flight.
Several members of the group were arrested by the local police on arrival.
A Ryanair spokesman said: "The crew from this flight from Dublin to Malta (30 April) requested police assistance on arrival after several passengers fumbled during the flight.
"The aircraft landed normally and the police removed and detained these individuals.
"We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behavior at any time, and the safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft are out of the number one priority. This is now a matter for local police."
