Square Enix's E3 2019 press conference began with an exciting and detailed presentation of Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS4. The publisher gave us an overview of the game's redesigned combat system, which mixes real-time action with the Active-Time Battle system. We also learned that the game will be quite massive, with two gameplay content on Blu-ray discs.
It seems that the amount of content is the reason it will take up too much space. Square Enix had previously said that the remake of Final Fantasy VII would come in several parts or episodes. As producer Yoshinori Kitase explained during E3's pre-release, however, the first "game" is "set in the eclectic city of Midgar and features a completely independent gaming experience," becoming the first stage of the original version of FFVII. Kitase said that Square Enix still does not know how many episodes Final Fantasy VII Remake will require, or how long it will take to develop additional episodes.
This was not the only news from Final Fantasy VII coming out of the press conference; Square Enix also featured an expanded version of the trailer that was unveiled during the Final Fantasy show on June 9. This gave us our first look at Tifa, along with more images of the redesigned battle system.
Square Enix also unveiled two new special editions for the game, including a $ 330 1st Class edition. All of this happens shortly after the announcement on Sunday night of a March 2020 release date for the highly anticipated remake, which will be released exclusively for PS4. Kitase said during the presentation that the team "will not disappoint your expectations". You can read more in our pre-order guide Final Fantasy VII Remake.
