Xiaomi's flagship for 2019, named Mi 9, may be the first smartphone in the world to have the Snapdragon 8150 chipset, yet to be released by Qualcomm. According GizChinaSupply chain sources have suggested that the Mi 9 will be released in the first half of 2019, which will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 processor.
To note here, Qualcomm is developing Snapdragon 8150 and there is no exact information on its release. It is rumored that the Snapdragon 8150 single-chip architecture may be similar to the Kirin 980. The future mobile SoC is said to be in the 7 nanometer process, and TSMC will manufacture it. In addition, it will have a separate neural processor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
A recent Geekbench listing revealed that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 will have a base frequency of 1.78GHz with a single core performance core of 3,697 and multi-core performance of 10,469.
There are rumors that Qualcomm will change the naming convention of its SoCs this time around. It is believed that the Snapdragon 855 is the same as the Snapdragon 8150 chipset, but may stick to that name for the processor marketing. Yesterday a report of WinFuture noted that Qualcomm is also working on two new chipsets – Snapdragon 7150 (SM7150) and Snapdragon 6150 (SM6150), but there is still no word on its launch plan.
