Samsung will investigate issues Galaxy Fold display, will not delay launch


Samsung issued a statement about Galaxy Fold's display issues, saying it will be thoroughly inspecting the defective units "personally to determine the cause of the problem." And as we suggest after the display issues have surfaced, the company also says it will make the importance of pre-installed protective film clearer for consumers. The retail launch on April 26, however, will not be postponed, according to Wall Street Journal.

A problem currently limited to the US?

The strangest thing about any ordeal is how the display issue affects only the units in the hands of US publications. Some important publications, such as Engadget still has your Galaxy Fold working properly, and so is our unit (which arrived at our door in London). And given Samsung's confidence in maintaining the launch of Galaxy Fold in late April, instead of delaying it, the problem may not be widespread.

Of course, Samsung was also quite confident in the first few weeks after Galaxy Note 7 started to catch fire, so we'll have to wait and see what happens with the Galaxy Fold. To say that it is an important device for the Korean giant would be a euphemism and make sure nothing goes wrong after the consumers received their requests would be in the best interest of Samsung.
