The highly anticipated MG Hector will be sold in 1.5-liter gasoline hybrid and 2.0-liter diesel engine options

MG Motor is gearing up to shake off the premium SUV segment on the Indian market with its debut product, Hector. Having been officially presented to the media, Hector will go on sale next month and you can learn all about it in our video on the show-floor below.

Hector comes with several first-line features and its annual sales target is 18,000 units. The British-owned Chinese manufacturer is targeting Indian customers with a range of new SUVs, while the five-seat Hector will be followed by a seven-seat variant and a fully electric eZS by the beginning of next year.

Hector based on Baojun 530 seems to have a pioneering edge in the space of the connected car, as it is packed with car-exclusive technologies. MG has collaborated with several technology giants to provide a customized customer experience. Alongside the list of 100 connected car features, the vertically oriented 10.4-inch HD touch-screen infotainment system grabs all the attention.

Some of the highlights include the Airtel 5G card ready for use with IP version 6, air upgrades, Ganna premium account, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, TomTom maps, AccuWeather, Emergency Response, Geo-Fencing, Leather upholstery, all black interior theme, panoramic sunroof and so on.

The Hector beats the competition completely in terms of dimensions and measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm and 587 liters of boot space. The Hector is equipped with a 2.0 liter Multijet diesel engine and a 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine with hybrid technology.

The first produces a maximum power of 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque peak. The gasoline powertrain develops 143 PS and 250 Nm and the 48 V lithium-ion battery allows for additional torque of up to 20 Nm while helping to reduce emissions as well as improving fuel economy. It is connected to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic double clutch unit.
