A few days ago, we reported that Kia Motors India plans to break into subcompact SUV space with a brand new model. Codename Kia QYi, the sub-4 meter SUV will face challenges from cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. The design and details of the Kia QYi are still confidential, although a new digital rendering gives us a fair idea of its appearance.
The new Kia SUV will share most of its design bits with the Seals, especially the front end. The grill and headlights of the QYi are exactly similar to the Seltos, but are smaller in size. The upper part of the hood is merging into the grille with LED daytime running lights and LED DRLs. The bumpers have vertical shells on both sides.
The enlarged wheel arches with alloys, roof rails and black casing running through the lower end of the side profile, further contributing to its sporty appearance. The Kia QYi subcompact SUV will also share its platform with Kia Seltos. The same architecture will support the new generation Hyundai Crete which will be launched at Expo 2020 in February.
The interior layout of the Kia QYi may be similar to Seltos. The latest spy images confirm that the SUV will have a floating touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and the UVO Connect suit, offering many features in five different categories.
