13 wizard examples being absolutely clueless

Google Assistant knows a surprising number of things. Ask for the distance between Earth and Moon or who won the last Superbowl, and it will give you the correct answer immediately. But, like any virtual assistant, there are times when this does not happen. Either it takes things too literally or comes up with a completely unexpected response. We've put together some of these cases over the last few months and we're thinking about brightening up your weekend with them.

For daze

Spelling is difficult, ask any high school student. In two, too, they all sound alike, and sometimes it is difficult to guess in context which one is correct. Proof: @artemR managed to confuse Wizard with his advanced English order, so he had no other choice but to set a reminder on the same day to "check [redacted] nowadays."

Sick burn

Trying to trick the Wizard may result in an excellent literal versus figurative word game such as Redditor u / BoechtVanDunaldy proof for us. Who's calling the shots now?

Sylvan Areg = Donald Trump

– "Hey Google, play Sylvan Areg on Spotify"
– "Okay, playing Donald Trump on Spotify"

What?! As?! In which world …? I was talking to my Google Home and it's safe to say the completely amused response and confuse me and my husband. We were shocked, we laughed, we ran to stop him … and finally I was curious to know what triggered that particular response, because it made no sense at all. Turns out it was "silver Iraq." Still hilarious and crazy.

Have to buy dem AAPLs fresh

I love testing the Assistant smarts a few times and asking questions that I'm not sure if it supports. This gave me an unexpected turn though. And if you're wondering, yes, append apples to my shopping list.

Subliminal message

Imagine asking Google if he is chasing you and getting "you can be chased and not even know" as an answer. We all know this is happening, but did we have to admit it out loud?

The Wizard wants to ensure that your privacy and security come first, and your data is completely safe with Google, but when asked about GDPR, it is suddenly indifferent. Attitude: will pretend that GDPR is not happening until it does not fly any more.

Attention range: Dory level

There are times when you want Google to send you a search result every day, such as a currency conversion rate. Everything is fine until you set the time and forget what you were doing. Where am I? What am I doing? Who are you? What is life?

Piece of pie

The lack of updates to the distribution numbers of the Android platform caused some confusion among the developers. For end users like @tabakajdin, also resulted in the wizard incorrectly guessing the latest version of Android. It's as if someone asked you how old you are and you're missing in a couple of years. But after thirty, who the hell keeps a precise count? (Artem tried to replicate this and received an even more confused answer.)

Alarming timing

It would be logical to assume that you could ask the Wizard to turn on the DND until the next alarm, right? Well, as an informant Asher Wood discovered, things can and will go wrong with this command. At least he will not lose the notification when Jesus is born. Whew

That up was not the only time the assistant was confused by his timings. Android Police Students @ RonAmadeo has another excellent example. Props to get the "30 minutes" part right.

Spelling problem

From bottom to top, this is how you will have to read this preciousness given to us by Nick Cipriani. From "define podunk" to "spell it out for me", the "you made me dirty", the Wizard gets more and more wrong.

Google Mini Table Tennis Racket

When redditor u / Prudhvi4p showed the Google Assistant his Home Mini speaker, he turned the deaf ear and pretended that he did not recognize his offspring. Is this a ball? I do not know. I have no idea what that is. Time for a Maury Povich "Is he the father?" test to reveal the truth.

If you ever doubted that Lens needs a pair of lenses, uhm, here's a pretty compelling evidence of @austinnotduncan.

Apple: You're copying our designs.
– Google: No.
– Apple (shows screen capture)
– Google: …

Google: Who's in charge of Lens again? Yes, they are fired.

And this is personal. Assistant can be surprising at times and ridiculous at other times. If you have other examples of your funny or clumsy antics, let us know and keep in mind that our inbox is always open for the screenshots you want to share.

I'll leave you with a Ultimate and memorable Hilarious Assistant Instance. It's infinitely funnier if you speak Arabic, but the translation shows the point.
