Edeka: Supermarket raises well-known brand of shelves

In retail, an aggressive price war intensifies. Large retailers, including Kaufland, Edeka or Rewe, do not want to accept price increases from brand makers. They enter a confrontational course with producers and launch popular products without leaving the shelf.

At the moment Netto and Edeka are selling Punica, reports the "Lebensmittel Zeitung". The discounter and the chain of supermarkets are in dispute with the beverage manufacturer.

Both concessionaires, which belong to the same group, are currently promoting the 1.5 liter PET bottle for 99 cents. In fact, the product costs 1.29 euros in the 1.25 liter bottle.

With the discount, the deposit must be cleaned. At the same time, Edeka does not buy any new Punica drink from PepsiCo. Sounds like a clear sale stop. Edeka fills in the gaps of the shelf with its own Multi 12 brand. It's one of the major new products of the supermarket giant.
