Champions League: Ajax Amsterdam wins semi-final for the first time in Tottenham

Ajax Amsterdam won the first leg of the semi-final in the Champions League in Tottenham 1-0 (1-0). The only goal of the night was Donny van de Beek of Amsterdam in the 15th minute. Thus, Ajax has a good chance of reaching the Champions League final for the first time in 23 years before the game back this Wednesday (21 clock, live ticker SPIEGEL ONLINE).

In London, a quarter of an hour had passed since David Neres on the left side prevailed against Kieran Trippier and thus announced the first emotion of the game. Via Lasse Schöne's ball came to Hakim Ziyech, who in turn was worth seeing Beek's van. Suddenly, van de Beek appeared free in front of Hugo Lloris and completed the lead for Ajax (15).

Then it took just 40 seconds before Neres made danger before the Spurs gate. Again he prevailed on the left side against Trippier and brought the ball into the box. Danny Rose tried a clean ball, but it almost scored.

Vertonghen needs to be substituted

When Spurs quarterback Jan Vertonghen faced off against his colleague Toby Alderweireld and Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana after half an hour that was the next setback for Tottenham. For several minutes, Vertonghen's bleeding was treated, but a return attempt he had to cancel after a few seconds. When leaving the Belgian's place had to be supported by two supervisors, a precise diagnosis was at the end of the game still pending.

For Vertonghen came Moussa Sissoko – who had one of two good opportunities for the Spurs in the final stages of the first half. First Alderweireld headed after a direct free kick from Trippier and not on goal (45 + 5), then Sissoko put a shot to his right (45 + 6).

In the second half, Amsterdam's Ajax long lost the offensive football that had been so successful before the break and in the previous rounds against Real Madrid and Juventus. Tottenham entered the game getting better, but hardly had chances to score. Of him, who crossed over the cross, seven meters from the crossing of Trippier, scored the best (56 & # 39;).

Once Ajax threatened a late break, but after a counterattack against Ziyech and Dusan Tadic, Neres hit the post with a left foot kick (78?).
