After giving birth to a stillbirth, she encourages women to listen to their bodies

Severe headaches, the sight that is disturbed, the tension that increases a lot and goes down very low … For a pregnant woman, these are disturbing symptoms. That is what happened Kristy Wastonwhile she was 26 weeks pregnant. This 20-year-old Australian mother will consult her doctor several times without further exams telling her that she feels normal pregnancy symptoms and should not worry about it …

Persuaded that her condition is serious, Kristy Watson, pregnant with a baby miracle after having three miscarriages, persists. She continues to go to the maternity ward regularly and even tries to get a second opinion at another hospital. Always to have the same answer, she tells CafeMom. However, she was right to worry because she was suffering from Pre-eclampsia, a problem that some pregnant women face, which is characterized by a high level of protein in the urine and hypertension, and which can have serious consequences for both the future baby and her mother. Unfortunately, in her case, she was diagnosed too late.

At 32 weeks of pregnancy, she returns to her gynecologist for the same symptoms. Medical teams report that she will receive an ultrasound, but that she must wait because the doctor is busy. "I felt like they thought I was just complaining about my pregnancy, but I actually knew something was wrong", she recalls. A few hours later, she is sent home, without having done the ultrasound, giving her painkillers for migraine. "It was three days before I felt my baby move for the last time. Three days earlier I was told that I had severe pre-eclampsia and that my baby's heart was no longer beating. Three days before my delivery began twelve hours before I finally killed my son. If only they'd done the ultrasound that day to find out that there was a problem with my placenta. If only they had taken a blood test to realize just how toxic it really was at this stage. It may not have changed things, but the thing is I'll never know.says Kristy Watson.

She decided to talk on Facebook and the media to tell her story. "I do not want to play the prosecution game, but To be neglected and ignored by those to whom I put the life that I was creating in my hands, is not something I desire for my worst enemy. I want to draw attention so that no mother, no family live this pain, have a broken heart and know the loss I had to live "she explains. After giving birth to her stillborn baby, which she called Kaycen on July 26, 2018, it took weeks for her body to recover from pre-eclampsia, since she almost died, in addition to having to cry. In addition, she asks women and future moms to listen to their instincts.

For this, it sends a painful appeal: "I want people to know my story so they know that when their instinct tells them something is wrong, they have to fight for answers, to go back and forth until they know what's going on, to make sure they they are heard, now I have to go home full of everything I needed to raise my little boy, an empty crib where my son never got to bed, books I could never read to her, clothes that I could never put on her, everything because I have not been heard, now I go home empty-handed, with a heart so broken that it will take a long time to heal. Please listen to their bodies.".
