The Ethiopian parliament is expected to approve three ministerial meetings on Thursday, according to a report by state broadcaster EBC.
Ministerial appointments are not released until now. But it is public knowledge that the Foreign Ministry has a vague stance after Workeneh Gebeyehu left a few weeks ago to take up a post at the United Nations office in Nairobi.
There are rumors circulating in social media that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed could be naming Lemma Megersa, who is the vice president of the Abiy Oromo Democratic Party and currently president of the Oromo region of Ethiopia as his next foreign minister.
If the rumor is true, it means that the region of Oromo, Ethiopia, will also receive a new president, which could mean a significant political change in the region, which is shaken by radical-ethnic nationalism.
Gedu Andargachew, who served as Amhara's regional president until being replaced by Ambachew Mekonen recently, should also be nominated for a ministerial position.
Gedu and the Motto are painted as members of the team during the internal struggle within the governing coalition that triggered the end of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).
