Since exploding in the fashion scene in 2016, designer Batsheva Hay has created a mania for her kitsch-cool prairie dresses. Their retro aprons, often embroidered with frills or printed in florals, strike the perfect balance between feeling new and vintage, so it's no wonder that celebrities have also enjoyed their collections. (In addition to dressing stars like Natalie Portman, Céline Dion also wore one of her dresses in January). The last to do this? Saturday night live cast member Aidy Bryant.
Last night, the comedian, who also stars in the TV series Strident made an appearance in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in a Batsheva dress that was long-sleeved, trimmed with frills and printed with a sweet floral motif. His pouf-shaped shoulders and slim waist are a signature of Hay that presented his Fall 2019 collection during New York Fashion Week last month.
To complement the spring palette, Bryant played on simple ankle-strap platforms in cobalt-blue suede. Jewelery Jennifer Fisher provided a minimal and polished finish. All in all, an excellent example of the autonomous power of a great dress.
