a Couple from Quebec He won 1 million Canadian dollars ($ 750,000) in the lottery after finding an award-winning ticket that had been forgotten in a book for months, the Loto-Quebec organization said on Wednesday.
Nicole Pedneault and Roger Larocque They only realized last week that they had a winning ticket for a tie on April 5, 2018.
While reviewing a book about Japan to help his grandson with a school project, Pedneault noticed that something had fallen from the pages.
It was a lottery ticket that the couple had bought last year for Valentine's Day.
"If my grandson had not asked me to give him some things for his presentation, he would never have found the ticket," said Pedneault.
"The first thing I did when I found the ticket in the book was to look at the deadline to claim the winnings on Loto-Quebec"he said.
The ticket was still valid, but not for long: only until Friday.
"It was by chance that we found it at the last minute," said the winner while receiving the check.
