Unlike the traditional one, the consumption of artisanal beer brings with it many benefits for the human body, among which the prevention of cellular aging, avoiding constipation and reducing the risk of heart disease, due to its entirely natural composition.
Beer is one of the oldest and most popular drinks in the world. After water, tea and coffee, it is the most ingested drink, and in Chile, it is estimated that per capita consumption is close to 70 liters per year, positioning itself as one of the most brewing countries in Latin America.
Within this industry, the consumption of craft beers has been increasing in our country, which is demonstrated by the great offer in the market. "The difference between the two is the preparation: while the traditional uses less natural raw materials and preservatives, artisan beer is made under a more natural process without additives," says Francisco Podlech, founder of Nexobeer, a dedicated company. dissemination and distribution of craft beer.
Several studies have revealed the multiple health benefits of traditional beer and these are those that are intensified with the consumption of artisanal beer. This does not mean that it is now allowed to take daily and in excess, but that this gain is produced by drinking moderately.
Moderate beer consumption makes people 42% less at risk for heart disease, according to a study by Italian scientists published in the European Journal of Epidemiology. This is because the polyphenols it contains help reduce the risk of developing heart-related pathologies.
As artisanal beer is made with 90% water, this hydration reduces the risk of developing kidney stones. "With the number of times we go to the bathroom every time we drink a few beers, the kidney works constantly, keeping it healthy," says Podlech.
In relation to the previous one, artisan beer has high levels of potassium which, according to the Spanish Society of Hypertension – League of Fight against Hypertension and the Center for Information on Beer and Health, produces a diuretic effect, eliminating water and electrolytes in the body , preventing constipation.
Another benefit that the moderate consumption of beer that the previous study revealed, was that the presence of natural antioxidants of this drink helps to diminish the oxidative phenomena that are responsible for cellular aging. In other words, beer slows down old age.
"The components of artisanal beer are all of a natural origin, making it a partially healthy beverage that also brings multiple benefits. In Chile, consumption and production spread, reaching supermarkets and emerging in ventures like ours, which seeks to disseminate the craft beer from different parts of the country, "he explains.
