The Ministry of Health officially launched the so-called protection against measles, rubella and mumps virus through a vaccine, which will be free until February 28. The period can be extended to reach 80% of the estimated population in the region of Magallanes.

In the Magallanes region, a total of 11,133 people are expected to be vaccinated. All this is free. In the country, the measles was eradicated in 1992, this caused that the following generation was not infected with this virus. Two years ago, in Latin America, there was an increase in cases of people suffering from this disease. Reasons enough to carry out this campaign, for those born between 1995 and 1999.

The Ministry of Health also calls on those planning a trip abroad and are the most susceptible. Those born between 1971 and 1981, infants between 6 and 11 months and children between 6 and 11 years of age. The vaccine should be done at least two weeks before the trip.

The symptoms of this disease are high fever, cough, coryza, conjunctivitis, after which you may have mumps that lasts between 4 to 7 days.
