The territory of Sancti Spiritus appears in the quintet of Cuban provinces affected by the presence of dengue, confirmed the Ministry of Public Health on Monday.

José Ángel Portal Miranda, head of Minsap, said that Sancti Spíritus is located behind Cienfuegos as the second province with the highest incidence in the country, a relationship that also includes Villa Clara, Holguín and Havana.

The minister specified that while in Cienfuegos there is a sustained increase in cases, in the last three there is a tendency to decrease in the most recent weeks and it is expected that by the end of 2018 they can eliminate the transmission of the disease.

In this regard, the provincial deputy director of Health in Sancti Spiritus, Manuel Rivero, said: "First of all, we must continue to prepare and recruit forces to work in the fight against vector control. the reality of existing territories to modify existing risks. "

"Often the vector direction sequence is not complete or does not perform its function, so we stopped controlling this important activity," he added, according to the Cubadebate report.

"In relation to people, despite all the health education that is provided, there is still no perception of risk and the conditions for mosquito breeding continue. Similarly, when we are ill, sometimes we do not go to the doctor," said Rivera.

"I believe that this task is acquired with control, honesty and system, which is often what we lack," concluded Rivero Abella.

In front of the deputies of the Health and Sports Committees and the National Defense and Internal Order that analyzed the results of the control and control of the epidemiological situation in the country, Portal Miranda clarified that there is no new Dengue serotype, while reiterating the importance of controlling arboviruses if we take into account that in 36 hours any virus can enter the country and there is a permanent risk.

The issue of epidemiological stability is paramount and of the highest priority for what it represents for the health of the population, he said, while confirming that Zika and Chikungunya are controlled diseases in Cuba.

Alerted about the high danger that Cuba has for the transmission of arboviruses, if we take into account that in the present year cases of yellow fever have been reported in Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina, among other nations, a condition whose introduction has been prevented by the Antilles nation for the measures, including the sustainability plan.

Dr. Cristina Luna, President of the Health and Sports Commission of ANPP, announced the results of an audit carried out by the members of this working group, and among the main deficiencies detected were those of an organizational nature and others related to the fight against the vector.

In the last semester the legislators interacted with more than 900 workers, managers and students, more than two thousand voters were interviewed and it was verified that the model of vector control structure is incomplete, fundamentally at the level of health areas and municipalities,.

The provinces of Havana, Ciego de Avila, Camagüey, Mayabeque and Matanzas were the most difficult and among the most frequent deficiencies observed by deputies in the exchange with hygiene workers and epidemiology are the situation of closed houses, despite the strategies developed in each Cristina Luna said.

It also includes poor integration of basic health teams with campaign workers and active participation in sanitation days in homes and neighborhoods, for which MEPs agreed that there should be greater support from the population. mass organizations.

Roberto Morales Ojeda, vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, who presided over the working session of these committees, said that the educational issue is fundamental, it is not possible to solve the problem without the active participation of the population and the work centers to reduce risks.

This is a matter of national security because it endangers the health of the people and generates an incalculable expense for the economy, said the Cuban vice president, explaining the resources destined to control vectors in sanitation to avoid an epidemic.

You have to go to the causes and definitely seek solutions to the problem, lowering infestation levels to the minimum required, the battle is against the mosquito, he emphasized.

He announced that 2018 will close without cholera cases and a tendency to decrease diarrhea, as well as with a minimum of provinces and counties with Dengue cases.

Major General Ramón Pardo Guerra, the chief of the National Civil Defense General Staff, has called for an attack on the African snail, considered one of the 100 most harmful invasive alien species in the world that is attacking several provinces and endangers native biological diversity .
