In the return of the franchise to its origins in World War II, Battlefield V presents a fun game but still has outstanding debts.
One of the greatest sagas of shooting games returned to the house that saw him take the first steps. We are talking about Battleground, bet by Dice and Electronic Arts to return to World War II. As we all know, in this event the first games of this franchise have been defined.
After the good acceptance that Battlefield 1 had with its representation of World War I, the Swedes decided to take advantage to launch its more modern version inspired by the second one. No doubt this generated much expectation. After all, what other conflict is more interesting and deadly than that of Nazi participation?
This week only Battlefield V had its release, but at Fayerwayer we have already had the opportunity to test it in its PC version. These were our impressions:
The only player who refuses to die … but neither is he reborn
The first time I played Battlefield 1, I did this without expecting any particular narrative. However, I came across the so-called "War Stories", which left me delighted. The reason for this is that they gave me an experience that was already starting to die in the sniper genre at the time.
The only thing that did not look so good was the duration of this "Campaign Mode". Each of the stories lasted less than an hour and started with only five. In Battlefield V they turned out to be only three with the promise of a room (and what seems more interesting) in the future. The truth is that the ones we have today … do not shine much.
Yes, we return to the same formula of the previous war. We have soldiers, heroes and rebels leading skirmishes to defeat the enemy through not-so-conventional tactics. The problem is that although each story is unique, the way the characters achieve their goals is very similar.
Let me explain: we have a young Norwegian who is opposed to the German occupation, an English criminal released from prison in the Suicide Squad plan and a Senegalese soldier who fights for France despite being treated with disdain. Having these elements can vary greatly, but quickly the player realizes that they are created in the same way.
In all there are furtive scenarios, shootings and the mission to "destroy X amount of points". The only one that could stand out among the others could be "The Last Tiger", in which a German tank is piloted. However, it is not yet available.
Despite this, it is highly valued that narrative intentions still exist. We hope the last German story will provide us with the variety we lacked for the other three.
The bet to play in team
Battlefield V took the class system seen in World War I to make it more solid. This is assault soldier, which equipped with machine guns and rocket launchers fought in the front; we see the de & # 39;recognition& # 39 ;, which in a nutshell is a sniper; the supportin charge of distributing ammunition; it's him doctor who offers healing packages.
This time he says he wanted to force us more to play as a team, causing more dependence between the peers. For example, ammunition is now smaller, so if you do not have a support partner to provide supplies, you may run short of ammunition. In addition, you will only have a set of wraps that you can heal so you will need a doctor if you do not want to die so soon.
Changes in the squad system are very visible. When you fall into combat, any of your three companions will be able to revive you.. You can actually scream for first aid as long as there is a "death clock" that you can delay to help you, or speed it up to cause a fast respawn. Of course, it will continue to be the doctor's privilege to rekindle your colleagues faster and healthier.
This is important because it really shows when your squadron is working together or not. As you play you will find people who do not step back, even though you are bleeding to death beside them and beg for help. However, when you meet attentive people, you feel you are being supported at all times and you can fight constantly despite losing.
In terms of game modes, we see an improved version of & # 39; Operations & # 39; call & # 39;Great Operations& # 39; For several "days" (games), players must fight for the destruction / protection of various targets. The results of one day will be transmitted to the next in bonus for the attacking team if it reaches its goal. If the last day is tied, it is defined as a type of sudden death in which no team will have regenerations.
From rest we have the typical way of Conquest, Advance, Domination and Duel until Death ̶c̶o̶n̶ ̶C̶u̶c̶h̶i̶l̶l̶o̶s̶ by Teams. There is a novelty that is "The Front" which is about capturing flags until you unlock the enemy base where the targets are dynamited to win the game.. Enemies can push back against them to besiege the base.
We see a great multiplayer experience that is now much more frantic compared to its predecessor. Of course, it still has the habit of dying frequently by random elements, like airplanes or rockets. This is war, I suppose.
For right, random shifting of bullets was eliminated. Therefore, we will have more comfort when it comes to combating the medium and long distance.
A very refined art
The Frostbite engine does not disappoint us, giving us a great picture show in Battlefield V. Details such as illumination in the environment are very well achieved and are worthy of being a successor to the artistic success that had in its time Battlefield 1. We can notice when this aspect stands out to portray very well the presence of moisture in the environment as This is seen in image below.
As usual, the stages are treated very well, especially in war stories. I remember one that I particularly enjoyed and it was in Norway, where they included auroras in the night sky. However, in the day when the sunshine on the frozen lakes gives a spectacular and very photorealistic result.
The textures of objects and the environment are very well defined. In addition to its shape, you can easily differentiate the visual sensation that produces something made of steel in a piece of fabric.
On the other hand, the visual and sound effects are still incredible. The experience of the chaos produced by fire and explosions is very similar to what one can experience in the first person. Of course the shots and moans of the soldiers end up producing what would be found on a battlefield.
All this with a fluency that at least on the PC could be considered flawless.
I did not want to conclude without first mentioning the controversy that has occurred since the trailer for Battlefield V. It was revealed Many people were alarmed when they saw a woman in the video, complaining that "Battlefield is now in the form of being inclusive without making any sense."
I decided to check how much this theme influenced the gameplay and found nothing that changed the experience. In multiplayer mode, each player decides the appearance of their character from a list of predetermined faces. Like this, if you prefer that your soldier be "Günter "and not" Helga ", there is no impediment.
The existence of women does not affect anything. It is not that they get naked or ask for privileges on the battlefield. They behave as they are: soldiers aiming to kill the enemy. Make sure it's not something you'll notice while playing, so you do not need to make comments like "Now in a DLC will include feminazis black transsexual lesbians." Good, feminazis Yes we will find, literally.
We wait for the rest.
It's no secret that Battlefield V will not deliver all of your content at once, but through several free DLCs over time.. This in itself is a hassle for your followers who have to wait to get a more complete game. In fact, some interesting things like the history of the war "The Last Tiger" or the inclusion of Battle Royale mode will still take a while to see the light.
This gives the feeling that there is still more to see to give an adequate opinion about the game. So far it's been fun, but the player always craves more and thinks of everything that can blow the title out of this conflict. For example, would not it be a good idea to include the Eastern Front with the Soviet Union? Not only that, you can also use other actors like fascist Italy.
In short, Battlefield V is a faithful continuation of its predecessor and knows how to portray the emotion of the IIGM very well.. With changes in the pace of multiplayer games has achieved truly fun results. The same can not be said about how a player is a bit short for their intentions and expectations.
However, it is still an audiovisual beauty. The user is looking forward to more, which will certainly be satisfied as new content is published. Recognizes the effort to bet on the fever of the moment: The Battle Royale, which has yet to be seen. With what you see today, it can be described as a highly recommended title with room to grow more.
