The Minister of Education, Marcela Cubillos, referred to the controversy of the students of the Lyceum of men San Francisco de Quito (SFQ) who refused to read "The song is my heart" by Pedro Lemebel.

The portfolio manager clarified that he does not know in detail the controversy of the third grade students who rejected the copy arguing that the author was "Disgusting"
"We as the Ministry of Education, the only thing we have done and want to promote is respect for values, respect for diversity," he said. Marcela Cubillos one EMOL.
When asked about how this type of situation should be handled in educational institutions, Cubillos said that "respect is always going back and forth. it is a respect for freedom and respect for diversity"
On the other hand, the Municipality of Independência published a statement in which they emphasized that, as an entity, they worked hard to promote a culture of tolerance, inclusion and non-discrimination.

This year, the municipality has been monitoring educational establishments in the management of conflict situations, for which they have declared that they will implement a Plan to promote the inclusive approach at the SFQ, so that respect for diversity in secondary education can be addressed.
