Milky Way star system threatens one of the universe's most powerful explosions

J. R. Calligham and their collaborators revealed the threat of a star system that, if exploited, would release as much energy as that produced by Sun throughout its existence, according to an article in the journal Nature on 19 November.

The star system belongs to the Milky Way, and brings together three stars, at a distance of 8,000 light years from Earth It has also been discovered that one of the stars is spinning at an extreme speed with the risk of exploding producing long-lasting gamma rays, the most powerful in the universe.

"This system is probably the first of its kind that was discovered in our own galaxy"say Benjamin Pope, member of NASA Sagan at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics of the University of New York, according to the Science Daily.

Although the explosion lasted only a few seconds, the energy emitted would be as much as that generated by the Sun throughout its existence.

However, scientists estimate that this would not affect the Earth; to reach it would destroy the layer of ozone of the atmosphere.

An explosion of gamma rays.

On the other hand, there is also the possibility that pop be less powerful.

"The system could reduce its speed sufficiently and explode like a normal supernova, instead of producing a gamma ray explosion"he said Peter Tuthill, gives University of Sydney, who commented that we only have to wait and observe the behavior of the star system Apophis, as it was named.

Apophis was called an ancient Egyptian god, symbolized in the form of a serpent and who incorporated the forces of evil, constantly fighting against God Frog.
