A cut of the offer affected the night of this Wednesday to several communes of the south of the country. The blackout extended from the city of Temuco, in the region of La Araucanía, to the island of Chiloé, in the region of Los Lagos.
As reported by the Electrical Coordinator – an independent entity of the Chilean Electric System – the total replacement of the service was initiated, while an investigation will be carried out to determine the causes.
The call, however, is to keep the minimum of electrical devices connected to the network.
Previously, the company Saesa (Sociedad Austral de Electricidad Sociedad Anónima)responsible for supply in the regions of La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos, said that it was due to a "incidence recorded in the Central Interconnected System".
This cut is added to that registered on Wednesday afternoon in the Metropolitan Region and this was due to strong winds that were recorded and reached up to 30 kilometers per hour. By 9 pm, 17,000 customers remained without supply.
