Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, was arrested in Vancouver, Canada on Dec. 1 and faces a US extradition request, the Canadian Ministry of Justice confirmed to AFP on Wednesday.

"Meng Wanzhou was arrested on 1 December in Vancouver, and the United States is seeking extradition," Ian McLeod, a spokesman for the Justice Department of Canada, said in a statement to AFP confirming the body's information.
