"God of War", developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), won on Thursday prize for the best video game of the year at the gala The Game Awards held in Los Angeles (United States).
This action-adventure game competed in the category of best video game with "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" (Ubisoft), "Heavenly" (Matt makes games), "Spider-Man of Marvel" (Insomniac Games), "Monster Hunter: World" (Capcom) and "Red Dead Redemption 2" (Rockstar)
"God of War" also won prizes for best address and best action and adventure game of a total of eight nominations.

The Western "Red Dead Redemption 2", the same creators of the hit series Grand Theft Auto (GTA), won the awards best narrative, best soundtrack, best sound and for the better performance for Roger Clark, who put the voice to the protagonist, "Arthur Morgan".
"Dead Cells", of Motion Twin, won the award for best action video game, "Dragon Ball FighterZ" (Arc System Works) for best fighting video game, "Forza Horizon 4" (Playground games) at better sports or video game driving and "In the gap" (Subset Games) for best strategy game.
In the category of best family videogame has won "Baked 2" (Ghost Town Games), the best video game for mobile was "Florence" (Mountains) and "Fortnite" (Epic Games) in best multiplayer video game.
Finally, "Combat 2018", developed by students of the University of Applied Sciences of Norway, won the prize of best student video game, a category in which a group of Basque university students also competed with "Jena".
This was the fifth edition of The Game Awards, considered "the Oscars" of the digital leisure industry and heirs of the Spike Video Game Awards (2003-2013), which also awarded in different categories the best video games of the year.
