The authorities confirmed that the suspect object was an explosive device who mobilized the Carabineros GOPE to the headquarters of the University of the Pacific in Melipilla this Thursday.
The object was found at the laboratory entrance of the university campus located on Route 78 in Melipilla.
After two hours of operation, the device was picked up by GOPE personnel and transported in a specialized truck to was determined to be a pump and not a dummy deviceconfirmed Co-operative
The object contained cables, a metal cylinder and two batteries, although – for now – it is not known what type of explosive contained.

The general Germán TapiaMayor of the Costa Carabineros prefecture, explained that "a suspicious device is detected, which is why we will isolate the location of the event and call a specialized team from the GOPE, which raises the object for further analysis."
While the artifact had a black flag with the anarchist symbol, the fact was not claimed by any particular group.
According to the first consultations, the object was installed between 9am and 10am in a place that is a blind spot for security cameras, so it is investigated if the responsible person had knowledge of the site.
The emergency forced to evacuate about 15 administrative staff of the educational institution.
The GOPE, the specialized departments of Carabineros and the Southern Public Prosecutor's Office carry out the reports of corresponding specialists.
