Espina defended the retirements of the FFAA: the military career has special characteristics

The Minister of Defense, Alberto Espina, The "special characteristics of the military career" is justified by the lack of changes in the social security system of the Armed Forces and the Order in the project that extends the service of officers and non-commissioners, signed on Monday by President Sebastián Piñera.

"The ideal is not to think about who receives the pensions, but to add to all, and because the military career has special characteristics. A retired military man can not go to work in the Argentine Army and sometimes at 48, 47 he has no alternative because he prepared for it."commented the former congressman.

Espina said that "this is a question that has been debated in all parts of the world, but the important thing is that by extending the military career, we will have more soldiers exercising their profession."

Overflows also bet on not intervening in the social security system

Along the same lines, the president of the National Renewal, Mario Desbordes, said he should not intervene in the pension system of the Armed Forces and, in turn, is committed to increase the benefit of full pension beyond the age of 35.

"This will also help to better finance the pension system of Dipreca and Capredena. Both systems are deficits today and if we want these systems to be maintained over time, they must have funding and not just taxes on all Chileans, but it is necessary that the person contribute more, "said the deputy.

This is because, with the Executive's initiative, directors and non-commissioned officers will be entitled to a full pension of 30 to 35 years of service and the right to obtain the minimum pension of 20 to 23 years of service. It will not be the same for civilians working in the Armed Forces, because they will have to take advantage of the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) system.

"At 35 years may be little", finished the helmsman of the RN.
