US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he wants the Apple company to produce its products in the United States instead of China.
"Apple manufactures its products in China. I told Tim Cook [presidente ejecutivo de Apple], which is a friend of mine, which I like very much, "Make your products in the United States & # 39; "said the president, adding that the technology giant should" build these large and beautiful plants "in the US, since China is currently its" largest beneficiary ", since it houses most of the production.
"I want Apple to make their iPhones and all the great things they do in the United States and that will happen," Trump concluded.
Is Apple "going to be okay"?
The statement from the US president comes shortly after Apple cut its revenue forecast for the first quarter of fiscal year 2019 due to the slowdown in iPhone sales in China.
On Thursday, Apple's shares fell to 9.4% in the opening trades on Wall Street. However, the US president said the company "will be fine."
In December, a court in Fuzhou issued an injunction to ban the sale of some iPhone models in the Asian country due to a patent dispute between chip maker Qualcomm and Apple.
According to the Qualcomm note, the measures would affect the distribution of models ranging from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone X. Apple, meanwhile, filed an appeal for the Fuzhou court ruling.
