Does the battery run out of your phone too fast or overheats? I may be hacking

Does this happen to you constantly? Eset's computer security specialist Cecilia Pastorino tells about cryptojacking.

Your cell phone is not damaged, they are hacking. Many of us have problems with the cell phone battery, whether it ends up too fast or overheats. Why does it happen? Well, you're probably a victim of cryptojacking.

Cryptojacking is the hijacking of the device (be smartphone, tablet or computer) to mine coins. Eset's computer security specialist Cecilia Pastorino tells us more about this.

In Latin America, the largest number of cryptojacking detections are found in Peru. These miners affect web pages and make them vulnerable. "What the attacker does is modify the source code of the site, to hide the criptomonedas miner there, so it is very important to make audits of the websites and correct them."

How do I know if my team has been breached? Pastorino commented that cryptojacking affects using the resources of the user's device. In case it is a computer, notebook or tablet, what it will do is that the equipment is slow, it is locked without any explanation. While in the case of a cell phone or smartphone, the battery will run out quickly or the computer will overheat.

"Many of us believe that it is because of the failure of the same cell phone but in most cases, it is because they are mining coins, so as users it is very important to have a security tool like the antivirus that protects from these threats."

He also stated that we can all be victims or targets of any attack especially because today many attacks are not directed but are malicious codes that walk the network waiting for someone to fall or as the case of the criptomonedas that does not care to the attacker who is the person who is running team but the team itself. "The greater the amount of equipment, the more money the attacker will have. It is not a threat that only targets people with important positions or who have relevant information."

Finally, commented to take care of our mobile cryptojacking devices, the first thing is to have a security solution, is the first barrier to be free of all types of malware by. Having everything updated, that means there is no vulnerability in the computers. And finally, be informed, know what the deceptions are circulating. So being informed helps not to be a victim.
