The heat was already in the O & # 39; Higgins Region and that is why I get a lot of diseases that usually increase in the summer. The Hanta virus is one of them, and this is how Seremi da Saúde, Rafael Borgoño, reported that the first case of the season and the fourth were recorded so far in 2018.
Seremi indicated that the affected person is from the Rengo district, a situation that was confirmed by the Public Health Institute, being the fourth case of the year. He is a young 24-year-old, becoming the first case of the summer season. The other three cases were registered between the months of January and March of this year.
In the latter case, the werei reported that the patient lives in the Lo de Lobo sector, and is currently investigating where he would have been infected since it could be at his home or at his place of work. That is why this Friday Seremi de Salud would contact their relatives and their environment to determine where they were infected and the form.
The 24-year-old patient is admitted to the Hospital de Tórax in Santiago, where he remains stable in his severity.
HOW ARE YOU COUNTED?
The infected mouse eliminates the virus through urine, feces and saliva, and this is transmitted to humans mainly through the respiratory tract. The disease spreads through the breath of small drops, fresh or dried, or air contaminated by saliva, urine or excrement of an infected mouse.
Ingest food or water contaminated with urine, feces or saliva of these rodents.
Direct contact with excrements or secretions of infected mice (eg touching rats, living or dead, with unprotected hands, direct contact of wounds with mice or urine, saliva or feces).
Touch any object where the virus has been deposited (tools, utensils, furniture, clothing) and then bring your hand to your nose, eyes, or mouth.
Being bitten by an infected mouse.
There is no evidence of transmission of the virus by insects, domestic animals or cattle. According to Minsal, in Argentina, a case of possible person-to-person transmission was reported, although the mechanism of this transmission is unknown.
Respiratory infection occurs indoors and with the recent presence of mice, so transmission is rare in open places exposed to wind and sun.
Among preventive measures, it should be ventilated for 30 minutes before entering enclosed spaces for a long time. After aeration, spray the floor and surfaces with water and chlorine. Then wipe and sweep. Keep the exterior of homes and warehouses free of brush and trash. Keep the cellars ventilated and tidy, without wasting. Seal and dismantle sheds and warehouses. Keep food and water out of the reach of rodents by always storing them in airtight containers. Avoid rodents entering homes, plugging holes and cavities where they can enter. Do not kill foxes, snakes and owls: they protect you from rodents.
Among preventive measures to avoid contagion for the general population that goes for camping and hiking, the recommendation is to choose clean and free places of forests and pastures. Use tent with floor, closing and without holes. Store food in tightly closed containers. Do not leave pots and utensils within reach of mice.
Walk only on authorized trails. Do not enter between shrubs and pastures. Do not collect or consume wild fruits.
Keep trash in closed containers if necessary, bury it and drink only potable water (potable, packaged, boiled or disinfected).
